Our residential height limits preserve views. Limiting commercial buildings in the View Basin to 2 stories helps limit traffic and protect the livability of our community. In addition to a small stretch of shoreline designated "historic working waterfront" in honor of our commercial fishing and boatbuilding history, this section ensures better balance between commercial and recreational users. Historic facilities like Eddon Boatyard and Skansie Netshed have created national recognition, and plans to add commercial fishing fleet moorage at Ancich Park helps to maintain our maritime identity.
But with our success comes an even greater pressure to change.
The temptation for "more" is threatening to displace and exceed the capacity of the View Basin.
