Open Letter From Real Estate Development Firm

Dear Supporter:

Many of you may be following the latest effort to derail One Harbor Point.  On February 13, 2017 the Gig Harbor Council will discuss a legal challenge to the City’s development regulation that is being used to review One Harbor Point.  The City code that will be discussed is referred to as Gig Harbor Municipal Code, Chapter 19.08 Development Agreements.  We are contacting our supporters as well as folks in the development industry – architects, construction companies, the Master Builder Association, Association of Realtors, etc.— in an effort to provide a calm counterbalance to the rhetoric now being directed at Gig Harbor Council Members.

The attachment to my email explains the purpose and benefits of Development Agreements that are commonly used by local jurisdictions to negotiate with a developer to create a superior design, preserve a landmark, provide a community amenity, etc.  After you’ve had an opportunity to review the information, please let me know if you have questions and whether you would be able to attend the February 13 Council meeting and/or send emails to Council Members to let them know there is community support for retaining the Development Agreement process as one tool that can be useful in the City’s planning and development process.

Thank you for your continued support and consideration,

Raelene Rogers
